Ché Zara Blomfield founded The Composing Rooms in 2010 as a curatorial project encouraging collaboration and dialogue in London. Inspired by Preteen Gallery, net.art, and the blog Post Internet by Gene McHugh, eight emerging artists were given their first solo exhibitions in the UK in a project I curated called The Green Room in 2012. This included: Petra Cortright, Jon Rafman, Kate Steciw, and Artie Vierkant.

From 2013-2017, The Composing Rooms hosted over 26 exhibitions and events in a space opposite UdK, Berlin, including a performance and panel discussion with influential internet artists jodi.org and an online exhibition space room.thecomposingrooms.com.

In 2015, with left.gallery, we published Bang Bros, the first novel by Gene McHugh, an esteemed art critic renowned for his blog Post Internet which defined the term. In 2017, coinciding with the closure of the space in Berlin, The Composing Rooms, A Timeline was published by Reflektor M. This was then republished in 2020 with more content: The Composing Rooms Book.

Baron Magazine was established as a satirical critique of austerity and sexism, heightened during the financial crisis in the UK. Since 2011, Baron has received press in over seven languages and copies are in the permanent collection of MoMA, New York. One of our books was guest-edited by Donatella Versace.

Jelato Love was a project space co-founded with Javier Esteban in Palma de Mallorca. We exhibited the first solo exhibitions of Michael Pybus, Estrid Lutz, Keith Allyn Spencer, and Yanyan Huang in Spain and had a huge group exhibition in response to Cancel Culture before closing.
